History

History

On March 10th 1947 Mr. J.M. Borstlap and his sons Karel and Joop started their company Borstlap & Sons in the Dutch coastal town of Scheveningen (The Hague). As wholesale traders in fasteners they soon began to sell most of their products under the brand name FABORY.

Move to Tilburg

The company grew quickly and after having outgrown several locations in The Hague, the Borstlap family relocated its activities to Tilburg in 1968. Continuous growth and several take-overs resulted in The Borstlap Masters in Fasteners Group, a name associated worldwide with high quality products.

Borstlap becomes FABORY

The last member of the Borstlap family who played an active part in the company was Mr. John Borstlap, who left the company in 1999. Mr. Alfons van der Aa is the CEO at present and has been since 2002. In 2006 the name Borstlap was exchanged for FABORY to enhance the uniform group identity. It also makes for easier pronunciation beyond the Dutch borders.

Worldwide presence

FABORY has done well internationally and is now present in fourteen countries with more than 85 FABORY Centres and national sales offices. Not just in Europe, but in the USA, Canada, and China as well. FABORY’s ambitions for the future are to expand even further. New locations for the business-to-business retail concept of FABORY Centres are planned for 2007.
